A Little Introduction Necessary

Girl,Interrupted (1999)

I feel inclined to share my story, of me and what brought me here to start this blog. I used to post incessantly on various spaces of the web and I tried my hand at the whole blogging thing before. But at some point, I would stop, whether out of boredom or disinterest I’m not entirely quite sure. I don’t consider myself an expert on writing or books. But I have a thirsty love for both. I was abnormally young when I picked up my first book to read and I have been plagued ever since with the need to be outside of myself and yet completely within myself (if that makes any sense to you). I shy away from my physical space and prefer to plunge headlong into the realm of imagination…because it is here that I am most happiest. Not to say that I’m an unhappy person. I’m just different. I think everybody claims this at some point in their lives; for everyone has the need to be something set apart from the ordinary, don’t they? But it does usually feel like I’m screaming from atop a unicorn in my imagination whilst everyone else is moving in slow motion grays.

I listen to a lot of Lana Del Rey, like reading Science Fiction and the Classics, eat way too many cupcakes and drink coffee by the minute. I’m a Freelance Copywriter and Illustrator inspired by the curve of a mouth and awed by sunsets. I’m currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in English Literature with a particular focus on Children’s Literature and the ways that reading can inform imagination and creativity in the individual.

Reading is my safe space. Words are my lover. This blog, will hopefully not fade into the grey shadows of the interweb. My hope is that every now and then, someone similar to myself may find it and take something away from it. I welcome conversation as I welcome silence, so feel free to add your thoughts if they are worth the time it takes to type them.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words 🙂 I think it’s very important to surround yourself with different opinions and perspectives (as long as it’s rooted in kindness of course). I look forward to learning from your posts!

  1. It is true. You ARE different. This is a different “About Me” page and I already like you very much. I look forward to delving more into your blog and hearing about your Reading And Writing (RAW – and I feel it will be!).

    Have fun!

  2. Well-stated. So much to relate to and intriguing little Kami bites. I hope you stick to this ’cause before you be like all over the place, yo. And it was hard to know where to follow you. I’m following you here!

  3. It’s wonderful to meet you, and I am so enamored by your words about imagination! I too am one who gets lost often in my thoughts and it takes me to places that I realize makes others question my reasoning. I feel I am “too out there” sometimes. I can imagine it all in my head though, and it is exciting to me! No limits! Thanks for visiting my blog.❤
